Cropsey – Erma Jean Hamilton, 93, of Cropsey, passed away at 2:30pm, December 22, 2017, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 27,2017, at Cropsey United Methodist Church. Pastor Gifty Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in Cropsey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00am also on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Cropsey United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice of charity. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Erma was born December 27, 1923, in Cropsey the daughter of Arthur and Clara C. Brucker Seifert. She married Kenneth Hamilton. He passed away in 1992. Surviving are 10 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Erma was a member of Cropsey United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Marilyn E. Dennis, 88, of Fairbury, died at 2:40 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, December 11, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury with Pastor Dan Robertson officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Dawson Cemetery, Ellsworth. A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm prior to the service on Monday also at the church in Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Mrs. Dennis was born on June 3, 1929 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Earl and Eleanor (Wikowsky) Zabel. She married James G. Dennis on November 22, 1947 in Cooksville. Her husband James passed away on June 22, 2008. Her parents, one sister, Laverta Hopt and one grandson, Timothy Dennis also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons: Rev. David (Rita) Dennis of Knoxville, TN and Daniel B. Dennis of Fairbury; and two nieces, Judy Johnson of Bonita Springs, FL and Susan Vance of Gresham, OR. Mrs. Dennis graduated from Cooksville High School and attended Kankakee College to obtain her LPN degree. She worked as an LPN at the Fairbury Hospital and later became an LPN and the Director of Nursing at Fairview Haven Retirement Community. Marilyn was a student of Scripture and served as Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury where she also taught Sunday School for 40 years, she was also a member of the Dorcas Circle of Church and the Shakespeare Club, and a Hospice volunteer. Fairbury – Thomas H. Keeley Sr., 85 of Fairbury, passed away at 1:55 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside inurnment with military honors will be 11 am, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Strawn Cemetery, Strawn. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Tom was born July 9, 1932 in Forrest Twp.; the son of Harold and Mabel (Hartman) Keeley. He married Oleta Scott on September 24, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Memphis, TN. She passed away February 10, 2017. Survivors include two children, Tim (Deb) Keeley of Gibson City; and Barb (Roger Embry) Cook of Fairbury; one sister, Joan (Hansie) Haberkorn of Chatsworth; eight grandchildren, Stacey (Brandon) Heldebrandt, Jason Clearwater, Shawn (Joanie) Clearwater, Justin (Maggie) Ziller, Scott Thomas (Brittany) Ziller, Katie (Scott Travis) Ziller, Anna Keeley, Leah (Justin) Quintana and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one son, Thomas Keeley Jr. Tom served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He loved to travel, and enjoyed fishing with his wife, Oleta. One of their favorite things was collecting rocks from all the places they had traveled to. Tom was a proud man; proud of his family, proud of the life he had made, and proud to have served his country. He loved deeply and will be deeply missed. |
