Mary C. Hirstein, 79, Fairbury, died at 10:30 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Her graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, December 20, 2019 at Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest. The family suggests memorials be given to the Fairview Haven Retirement Community or South East Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS). Mary was born June 3, 1940 in McLean County, IL the daughter of Clarence M. and Bernice G. Allen Hirstein. They precede her in death. Mary attended Wing grade school and Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Forrest, Indian Creek Country Club, the Silver League and Senior Citizens Club.

Fairbury – Dean L. Moser 89 of Fairbury, died at 8:29 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. His funeral service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury, with Pastor Ann Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm, Friday, December 13, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9 to 9:45 am Saturday at the church in Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Dean was born March 17, 1930 in Fairbury, IL the son of Silas and Lucille (Tavener) Moser. He married Lucille E. Monroe on April 29, 1951 in Fairbury. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2019. His Parents, and one son, Stephen Dean Moser also preceded him in death. Dean and Lucille have five sons, Stephen Moser (deceased) wife, Mary, Monclova, OH; James (Mary Ann) Moser, Zelienople, PA; Gary (Sheri) Moser, Fairbury; Mark (Glenda) Moser, Morton Grove; David (Sheila) Moser, Hinsdale; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, who brought him much joy. Also surviving is one sister, Dolores (Barry) Free of Lake Petersburg, IL. Mr. Moser was a 1948 graduate of Fairbury High School and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner-operator of Moser and Son Mobil in Fairbury until his retirement in 1994. He was very active in his community as a member of the Rotary, Jaycee’s, American Legion, Manager of Little League, Boy Scouts, Knoll Lodge, The Fairbury Fair and Races, Masonic Lodge and Meals on Wheels. Dean wanted all to know that “he had the best family he ever knew and he never cheats at cards”! Congratulations, Fairview Haven team!
