Leroy C. “Roy” Sohn, 82, Fairbury and formerly of Joliet and Lombard died at 1:56 am Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 29, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury officiating. Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 pm Friday also at the memorial home. The family suggests memorials be given to the Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Mr. Sohn was born February 19, 1935 in Forrest the son of Carl and Lydia Hari Sohn. He married Elaine Minnec on January 2, 1972 in Lombard. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2016. Survivors include their children, David (Staci) Sohn, Clarksville, TN; Jessica Bebar, Naperville; Jeremy (Shae) Sohn, Elk Grove Village; ten grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Sohn, Fairbury. He is preceded in death by one brother, Harry Sohn. Mr. Sohn served in the United States Army and was a member of the Joliet Church of Christ.

Dorothy L. Hoffman, 90 of Fairbury died 5:50 pm, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, September 26, 2017at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will follow at the North Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Forrest. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00pm Monday, September 25, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45am Tuesday at the church in Fairbury. Mrs. Hoffman was born January 22, 1927 in Forrest, a daughter to Alphia and Clara Anna (Heinold) Maurer. Her parents, two brothers, Donald Maurer and Ray Maurer and one sister, Helen Zimmerman preceded her in death. Survivors include her children: Cheryl (Robert) Kaisner, Paul Mark (Mary Jo) Hoffman both of Fairbury; three sisters, Gladys Koehl of Fairbury; Deloris Thomas of Arlington Heights; Wilma Honegger of Peoria; two Brothers, Howard (Eileen)Maurer of Scottsdale, AZ; Larry (Becky) Maurer of Glendale, AZ; also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Hoffman was employed for many years at Stoller-Maurer Construction, Fairbury. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury. Dorothy loved her family and her soft gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Knapp, 97, of Cissna Park passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury. She was born November 5, 1919 in rural Cissna Park on the family farm, where there was no running water and no electricity at the time. Her parents, William and Pauline Karg Baumgartner, preceded her in death in addition to one son, Curtis Knapp. She married Harry A. Knapp on August 31, 1941 in Watseka and he also preceded her in death on December 20, 1991. She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, Bruce (Lisa) Knapp of Normal and Beverly Knapp of Cissna Park. Mrs. Knapp was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park and Claytonville Civics Club. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
