Fairbury – Iola Aberle, 85, of Fairbury, passed away at 9:34pm, September 29, 2019 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Her funeral will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 3, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Fairbury. Pastor Daryl Evans will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to SELCAS. Iola was born December 18, 1933, in Forrest, the daughter of Wesley and Clara Steidinger Yoder. She married Robert Aberle on December 15, 1962, in Forrest. He survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Lynette (Darin) Bazzell and Kelli (Josh) Maquet both of Fairbury; grandchildren, Jacob and Korinne Maquet and Trey and Dylan Bazzell; and sister, Phyllis Gerdes of Fairbury. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Iola was a bookkeeper for Fairbury Medical. She also cared for her ailing mother for nine years. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved time with her grandchildren.

Rosalee E. Kearney, 87 of Gridley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 21, 2019 at 9:10AM at Serenity Villa Assisted Living, Fairbury,IL. She was born February 8, 1932 to Vance & Elizabeth (Miller) McFann in Milford, IL. She married Terry Kearney on April 16, 1955 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington, Illinois. They were happily married for 40 years. He preceded her in death, Dec. 9, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lloyd McFann, & one sister, Patricia Mason. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Margie (Denny) Stauter of Gridley, Linda (Steve) Schrader of Peoria & Kelly (Paul) Schuler of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Brad Bone of Belleville, IL., Brittany (Brady) Heady of Kirkwood, MO, Abbey (Brandon) Stapleton of Indianapolis, IN, Michael & Joseph Schrader of Nashville, TN, Kelsey Schuler of Naperville, IL., David (Lauren) Schuler of Chenoa, IL., John Schuler of Bloomington, IL along with one great grandson, Vance David Schuler. Rosie was known for her Irish wit and was immensely proud of her Irish heritage. She never met a stranger and her grandchildren were the love of her life. Our family would like to thank the staff & volunteers of Fairview Haven, Serenity Villa, & OSF Healthcare Hospice for their excellent & compassionate care for our mother & grandmother. Holmes, 88, of Fairbury, passed away at 1:04 am, September 21, 2019, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Forrest Township Cemetery. Pastor Tom Krieger will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Merle was born May 27, 1931, in Fairbury, the son of Earl and Lela Moffett Holmes. He married JoAnn Lindenbaum on December 12, 1970, in Pontiac. She survives. Also surviving are his twin sister, Marge Black of Clearmont, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Merle was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an industry foreman for the Illinois Department of Corrections, retiring after 22 years. Merle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury, Moose Lodge and Pontiac American Legion Post 78, where he was a member for 67 years. Arlene Mae Walter, 88, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:35 pm, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral service will be 10 am, Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm, Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9 to 9:45 am, prior to her funeral on Monday at the church in Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Arlene was born March 20, 1931 in Fairbury, the daughter of Christian Edward and Amelia (Metz) Zimmerman. She married Willard C. Walter on March 8, 1952 in Fairbury. Her husband, Willard passed away on November 17, 2004. Survivors include one son, Dale (Kathy)Walter of Fort Wayne, IN; one daughter, Carol (Tom) Glotfelty of Buford, GA; three grandchildren, Andrew (Adryana) Walter of Marietta, GA; Benjamin Walter of Homestead, FL; and Rachel (Greg) Singleton of Sugar Hill, GA; four great grandchildren, Harper & Sofia Singleton, Gwendolyn Amelia Walter and Lily Walter. Her parents, three brothers, and five sisters preceded her in death. Arlene was a 1949 graduate of Forrest Twp. High School and was employed as a legal secretary for Henry Phillips Attorney at Law in Fairbury for over 32 years. Fairbury – Robert Louis Wenger, 90, of Fairbury, passed away at 1:48am, September 7, 2019, at Serenity Villa at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. His funeral will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2019 also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Prairie Central or the donor’s choice of charity. Robert was born January 25, 1929, in rural Forrest the son of Louis and Luella Skinner Wenger. He married Mary Ann Rathbun on October 1, 1949, in Fairbury. She survives. Also surviving are his children, daughter, Terri (Richard) Wells of Jensen Beach, FL; sons, Dennis (Carol) Wenger and Michael (Jean Ann) Wenger both of Fairbury; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Robert was a lifelong farmer in the Fairbury area and custom shelled corn for over 20 years. He was a founding member of the Rural Fire District and was on the board of directors for Weston Grain. Robert brightened commuters lives with his line of horses in the field, that can be seen off of Route 24. |
