HURRICANE RELIEF!
Family members of a FVH team member live in Florida in the area that was affected by Hurricane Michael. We are collecting donations to be taken directly to the townspeople of Altha. Please bring bottled water, nonperishable food, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, clorox wipes, hand sanitizer. These can be put in the box just inside the front door of Fairview Haven. Also Sam's Club or WalMart gift cards in small increments can be put in the donation box inside the front door. We need all donations by 10/22/18. Merle W. Kaisner, 95 of Fairbury, passed away at 10:35 am, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at his residence in Fairbury.
His funeral will be 1:30 pm, Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury; with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 12:30 to 1:15 pm on Sunday prior to the service at the church in Fairbury. Memorials may be directed to SELCAS, Fairbury; OSF Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Kaisner was born December 10, 1922 in Fairbury, the son of Joseph and Ida (Sutter) Kaisner. He married Gladys “Marge” Zimmerman on February 22, 1948 in Forrest. His wife preceded him in death on May 8, 2015. His parents, one infant son, one daughter, Becky Kupferschmid, two grandchildren, Kristie Kay Kupferschmid, Natasha Stewart, and one sister, Alma Jean Schmidgall also preceded him in death. Survivors include his children, Wanda (Alfred) Kupferschmid of Forrest; Robert (Cheryl) Kaisner, Jerry (Donna) Kaisner, Don (Leona) Kaisner, Gwen Knapp, and LeAnn Kaeb, all of Fairbury; 35 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, three brothers, Hartzel (Mary) Kaisner of Detroit, MI; Leon (Eunice) Kaisner of Peoria; Larry (Cynthia) Kaisner of Forrest; three sisters, Helen Follmer of Newberry Park, CA; Janet (Roger) Farney of Bloomington; Lou Ida (Richard) Steffen of Forrest and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kaisner farmed for many years in the Fairbury-Forrest area. He also served as a maintenance man at Fairview Haven Retirement Community prior to his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed woodworking. He was a retired minister and member of the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church. Ronald W. Vedder, 82, Fairbury, died at 6:10 am Monday, October 15, 2018 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. His funeral will be 10:30 am Friday, October 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Ann Champion officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:30 to 10:15 am Friday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Indian Creek Golf and Country Club or Southeastern Livingston County Ambulance Service, both in Fairbury. Ron was born January 11, 1936 in Jacksonville, IL the son of Jesse and Clara Lacey Vedder. He married Shirley Sperry on November 7, 1954 in Jacksonville. She survives in Fairbury. Other survivors include a daughter, Deborah (John) Kaisner, a son, Randall Vedder, both of Fairbury, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Pennell, O’Fallen. He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Ron was a career police officer serving as Chief in Paxton, IL before entering the Illinois State Police Academy in 1968. He served twenty-five years with the District #6 Illinois State Police retiring as a Master Sergeant. Ron was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #41, the First United Methodist Church, Indian Creek Golf and Country Club, both of Fairbury. He was an avid hunter of deer, pheasant and quail. He also raised German short hair bird dogs for many years. Ivan Steidinger, 88, Fairbury and formerly of Forrest, died at 5:25 am Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
His funeral will be 10:00 am Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Faith Church, Fairbury with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Monday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury or the charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Steidinger was born June 13, 1930 in Forrest, IL the son of Joseph and Bertha Ifft Steidinger. He married Kathryn Margaret Schaffer on January 15, 1956 in Forrest. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2011. Survivors include his children, Ray (Shelly) Steidinger, Strawn, Kathy (Dan) Banwart, Forrest, Glen (Holly) Steidinger, Fairbury, Linda (Bob) Anliker, Forrest, Lyle (Sonia) Steidinger, Paris, France, Roger (Sheila) Steidinger, Forrest, 30 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, Alta, Vera, Doris, Edna and Alice Steidinger, Fairbury, 2 brothers, George Steidinger, Fairbury and Joseph (Dorothy) Steidinger, Forrest. He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wendell Dotterer, sister, Norma Steidinger and brother, Richard Steidinger. Mr. Steidinger was a lifetime farmer and a member of the Apostolic Christian Faith Church, Fairbury. The family would like to thank Fairview Haven Retirement Community for the excellent care provided to Ivan. Their efforts will never be forgotten. |
