Kenneth R. Ashman, 79, of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at Fairview Haven in Fairbury.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Illinois. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. Burial will be at Chatsworth Cemetery in Chatsworth, Illinois, following the service. Memorials in Kenneth’s memory may be made to Chatsworth American Legion Post 613 or the Chatsworth Fire Department. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth was born December 30, 1942, in Fairbury, Illinois, to Arnold and Cassie (Johnson) Ashman. They preceded him in death. He married Joy Schlemmer on October 20, 1968, in Chatsworth, Illinois. She preceded him death on September 7, 2021. Surviving is his daughter, Jolea (John) Kalvin of Hampshire, IL.; and his grandchildren, John (Jak) Kalvin and Joryn Kalvin.
Kenneth attended and graduated from Chatsworth High School. After school, he pursued a career as a carpenter by love and trade. He was a long time Chatsworth Town Board Member. He loved stock car racing, woodworking, and feeding the birds.
Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.
