Don was born on November 9th, 1933 to Frank and Matilda "Tillie" (Bose) Faw. He was the fifth of their six children.
He attended Toluca High School in the late 40’s, and came to Fairbury in July of 1952. After returning from service in the US Army in December of 1955, Don married the love of his life, Betty Nance on March 10th, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 23rd, 2013.
Surviving are children Jeff and Jean Ann, grandchildren Amanda and Jon, and great-granddaughter Maggie. He is also survived by brothers Frank and Charles, a sister, Mary Lou Koskosky, and special friends Bob and Diane Catton and their children.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Rosella “Rosie” Hornsby, and Betty Katchmar.
Don spent 26 ½ years working for Kafer Tiling and Ditching, and another 12 years as the Fairbury Street Superintendent, retiring in 1998. He served 19 ½ years as a volunteer firefighter, and was a founding member of the Fairbury Sportsmen’s Club. His hobbies included motorcycles, antique cars, and antique tractors. In his later years, Don enjoyed traveling with Betty, and in her last days, he devoted his life to making hers as comfortable as possible.
Cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to SELCAS or Dominy Memorial Library.
