As of today, visitors to the Fairview Haven campus are restricted to immediate family only and essential volunteers. All who come on the Fairview Haven campus need to go through the screening process at the front door of Fairview Haven or Serenity Villa. As of today, residents of Fairview Haven, Fairview Estates Assisted Living and Serenity Villa are being restricted from visits to the community. The exception is essential medical appointments which will be determined by the physicians. Fairview Suites Independent Living residents have a choice whether they would like to go out the community. If they choose to continue going out to the community, they will be restricted to their apartments when they return to the Fairview Haven campus. We will provide their meals to their apartments. If they choose to not go out into the community, they can go to the dining room or other parts of Fairview Haven as usual. Watch the blog and Facebook for further updates. And please continue to keep us in your prayers as we take precautions to keep our Fairview Haven family healthy. He hath said: I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The LORD is my helper and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. -Hebrews 13:5-6 NEW AS OF 5 PM TODAY (3/11/20) -

Currently we have no residents with symptoms nor do we suspect staff exposure. We will be monitoring resident and team temperatures on a daily basis. If a resident becomes symptomatic, he or she will be quarantined in his/her room and the Healthcare POA will notified and updated regularly. The Fairview Haven blog will be your main source of information if your loved one has no symptoms. If your loved one has symptoms, we will directly contact you. We will be posting updates to our visitors policy when/if changes are made. The Illinois Department of Public Health has put out recommendations for prevention of Coronavirus in long-term care.
Currently there are no symptoms of Coronavirus nor do we suspect staff exposure. We are putting these restrictions in place for the purposes of PREVENTION. 1. Effective today, we are asking that no visitors under the age of 16 come to Fairview Haven. 2. Please don't shake hands with the residents when you visit. 3. Please use hand sanitizer when you come in and when you leave. 4. If you have traveled internationally or been exposed to coronavirus, please don't come to Fairview Haven. 5. If you have symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat or respiratory), - or have been exposed to someone with those symptoms, please don't come to Fairview Haven. 6. We're encouraging the residents to avoid going out into the community unless necessary. Thanks for understanding! And thanks for any prayers! Fairview Haven is taking proactive steps in the event of coronavirus reaching our area. At this time, there is no need to panic, but calm preparedness goes a long way.
Any visitors who have a fever and/or other respiratory symptoms, who have been around others who are ill, or who have been around others within the last 2 weeks who have since developed respiratory symptoms and/or fever, we ask that you reschedule your visit for a later date. It has been several years since Fairview Haven has required a facility-wide quarantine, and several infection control practices are in place. We have an Infection Preventionist nurse on staff, Cindy Keeley LPN, who continuously monitors active infections of any kind, and strategizes ways to mitigate further infection. Training is provided to all team members on infection control protocols. We are monitoring incoming information from the local Health Department, working with our nursing team and Medical Director, and plan to activate additional infection control protocols as they become necessary. Coronavirus, like the flu, is spread through respiratory droplets. These droplets are distributed through coughing, sneezing, exhaling, etc and land either directly onto the respiratory mucosa of nearby people, or land on a surface to be picked up by the next person to touch the contaminated surface. Your best defense is frequent hand hygiene, with soap and water or alcohol-based rub, and avoid touching your mouth and nose. Stay several feet away from individuals who are coughing and sneezing. Again, if you are sick, we cannot emphasize enough the need for you to forego your visit to Fairview Haven.
